What a tragedy. An earthquake shook Japan today and it literally created ripples around the world. We are all feeling the anguish of this great calamity but I especially feel for those people who lost lives and loved ones and had their livelihoods washed away in seconds. It is yet another reminder that people are fragile and we should treat each other kindly because in the end we are all we really have.
1. There is no such thing as overnight success.
2. Always know your worth.
3. Blow off steam by working even harder.
4. Overpay your dues in blood, tears & sweat.
5. Always bring out Yourself.
My friend Tyler Martin makes art via his music and his craft. He is not only a talented videographer, but he also carves specialty bamboo flutes and sails off to remote locations to do his thing. Visit his website at www.tylersflutes.com to check out some more goodness.
Great things are made up of small ones. Just remind yourself everyday, especially while you’re working hard, that success is not always instantaneous. Results show after a little bit of build-up.
Poster I created for Anna Freitas, a musician/songwriter from Boston. This was my first “commercial” work ever. Very proud of this design for that reason alone.
Everyone fails.
Get used to it and get over it fast. Use what you’ve learned to make it work next time
Succeed. Rinse. Repeat.

Translation: As long as I’m breathing, there is still hope.
I was inspired by the Filipino band Bamboo’s song “Hallelujah“.

Just overall feeling good about my work… some ammo in the back pocket and ready to carry out my mission today.
When you’ve fallen from grace, someone will be there to help you up. Is it yourself? A friend? A stranger? Him? No matter, as long as you know that there is someone or something there. That’s what we call “faith”.
Faith is not there to catch you. No, that would be far too easy. YOU will have to fall. Very hard. It will make you numb, stronger and so much wiser. It is meant to happen that way.
Don’t hope for someone or something to catch you, but, do hope for this: That someone or something will help you up again, teach you to walk again on your own even though you’d rather be held up.

The Go by crud / A-BOY from Carlo Abueg on Vimeo.
Here is a very short music video I shot and edited for crud (create, read, update, design.)
It’s meant to visualize a dream in which layers of places and memories start overlapping into one another. The new reality formed from this melding process is unique, awkward and still inspiring to watch. There is a disconnect from reality throughout the footage and, just like a dream, there is no clear resolution at the end.
Side note: This was shot using my dad’s digital camera and not professional video equipment.
1. Working from home should be standardized. What’s the difference between 5 hours of actual productive work versus 5 hours of productive work and 3 hours of pretending you’re busy?
2. I honestly think that I would be a great writer and I could generate sales – but it’s not on my bucket list.
3. I want to go skydiving, because I want to look up at the earth instead of the sky.
4. Loving someone is not about giving flowers and candies, it’s about knowing why you’re giving to that person in the first place.
5. The only reason I don’t drink black coffee is because it’s boring as hell.
